What is Christmas all about?

Is it just about shopping for the right gift or the pretty decorations? Don’t get me wrong. I love all the trimmings of the season from the festive lights, the food, putting up the tree together as a family, gift giving and getting, the food, Christmas carols and cantatas, did I mention the food?… But, Christmas is more than a holiday – it is a holy day. It is the birthday of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who was born in Bethlehem long ago to die for our sins on a cross at Calvary. He was born… to die… for you and me.

That is why Christmas is so special. It is about spending quality time with family and friends to celebrate God’s gift of eternal life through His Son Jesus the Christ. It is about worship and praise to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. I pray none of us get so distracted by the commercialism of the holiday that we miss out on the real meaning of the holy day.

I hope your family will join us in worship each Sunday in December to celebrate Jesus’ birthday and thank Him for dying for us. He’s worth it! May God give you and your family a very safe and Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!

I appreciate you all more than you know…
Pastor Mac
